Cutaneous bacterial infections are one of the most common infectious in routine dermatological practice. Bacterial infections of the skin are divided according to the affected anatomical location or according to the causative pathogens. We most often encounter infections caused by streptococci, staphylococci and corynebacteria. In this first part, common and rarer manifestations of gram-positive bacteria are discussed, including diseases resulting from the production of bacterial toxins. Emphasis is placed on the clinical manifestation, diagnosis and antibiotic treatment.

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with a very complex pathophysiology, which underlies the wide spectrum of phenotypes of this disease. Therefore for a long time we did not have available a sufficiently effective and at the same time safe therapy for a significant part of patients with severe disease. However, the situation has changed significantly in the last few years. With the advent of biological therapy and, more recently, the advent of JAK inhibitors, the possibilities and success of treatment, especially of severe forms of the disease, have significantly expanded. Currently, there are more than 70 topical and systemic preparations...

Basal cell carcinoma is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. In the indication of topical treatment of basal cell carcinoma, imiquimod and photodynamic therapy play a central role. These modalities are reserved for low-risk superficial subtypes, which reduces their degree of applicability in clinical practice. With the intention of overcoming current limitations, extensive research is conducted in the field of topical treatment of basal cell carcinoma. This article briefly summarizes the current therapeutic modalities, their limitations, and examples of new approaches in the treatment of this highly prevalent disease.

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic inflammatory disease, that often starts in pediatric population, unfortunately there is a gap between onset and diagnosing this disease. The early onset of symptom is usually associated with a more serious course of the disease. Early diagnosis let us start appropriate therapy as soon as possible and help us to prevent exacerbations, complications and comorbidities. This article summarizes information about the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, comorbidities and treatment for patients under 19 years of age.

Congenital dermal melanocytosis (Mongolian spots) are congenital birthmarks that most commonly occur in the lumbosacral region. They are grey-blue to blue-green in colour and oval or irregular in shape. They are most commonly found in individuals of Asian or African ethnicity. These lesions resolve within one to two years of age. Although traditionally believed to be harmless in nature, they have been shown to occur in some lysosomal storage diseases. We present a Vietnamese neonate with congenital dermal melanocytosis, which we observed at diagnosis of a cystic mass of the left arm.

Introduction: Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare malignant adnexal tumor which arises from the intradermal ducts of sweat glands. It often clinically mimics a benign (non-neoplastic) skin disease, which contributes to delayed diagnosis. Case report: A 51-year old man had noticed an „inflamed lump“ in his right armpit for the last year. The lesion clinically appeared as a suppurative hidradenitis. After its surgical incision, it was seen a progression of cutaneous tumorous resistance at a given location. The mass was completely excised. Histopathology revealed a solid high-grade carcinoma with a histomorphology and immunophenotype favoring the...

This case report focuses on the local application of 5-fluoruracil to actinic keratosis of the vertex with a 77 year-old patient. Actinic keratosis is a very common diagnosis frequently encountered in general practice. It is an epithelial tumor, a skin precancerous lesion, that can potentially develop into squamous cell carcinoma and therefore, the treatment of actinic keratosis is important.

A casuistics of a 30-year-old man who was sent to our Acne Clinic because of skin problems lasting for about 8 years is presented. Objectivelly, on the face, neck and trunk many arches were present, the biggest one under the left eyebrow and under the right ear. There were some comedones, papules and small nodules on the trunk. Histological examination of a cyst under the right ear revealed a diagnosis of steatocystoma. Because of concomitant diagnoses acne nodulocystica and steatocystoma multiplex, a treatment with peroral isotretinoin was started with an initial dose 0,25 mg/kg/day, after one month the dose was increased to 0,40 mg/kg/day. Acne was...

The most common comorbidity associated with psoriasis is psoriatic arthritis (PsA). It can significantly impair patients' quality of life and, if not adequately treated, can lead to irreversible, mutilating changes in the joints. Early diagnosis and treatment of PsA is therefore essential for the further development of the disease. Early stages of PsA can often be detected by a dermatologist using a simple "PEST" questionnaire. The final diagnosis of joint involvement and subsequent treatment is then established in cooperation with a rheumatologist. When confirming PsA, we choose a therapy for which, according to the available data, we can assume a...
