Tumor recurrences of cutaneous basal cell carcinoma (BCC) represent a relatively frequent and therapeutically often difficult phenomenon
in clinical practice. Although their reliable prediction is very limited on the basis of routine demographical, clinical and histopathological
parameters, some of them may indicate an increased likelihood of tumor relapse. In general, the risk factors for BCC recurrences can
by cathegorized into tumor-related parameters and patient-related parameters. The first group primarily includes anatomical location
and histological type of carcinoma, tumor size and the extent of its invasion, or the number of tumor lesions. The second group mostly
includes the form of therapy, surgical margins status in cases of the samples removed by surgical excision, asscociated comorbidity
and immunosupressive status of the affected persons. The authors of the article present the basic informations about these prognostical
parameters and about their importance for BCC recurrences prediction in a routine clinical practice.
